Before the start of the India vs Pakistan Asia Cup clash, there was a lot of conjecture around Suryakumar Yadav’s team’s symbolic protest. But no one really had a clue, as to what would happen during the match. But if the toss is anything to go by, then there would be no handshakes between the two teams.
Surya avoid handshake with PAK skipper
After Salman Ali Agha won the toss and opted to bat first, Surya and the former did not shake hands, which is generally the norm. It just gave the feeling that Surya was in no mood to exchange pleasantries with the Pakistani counterpart. Agha too looked comfortable with the move.
Same XI for India
Meanwhile, both India and Pakistan went with the same XIs from the previous matches. That meant, Arshdeep Singh had to sit out once again, while Shivam Dube was preferred for this clash. Three spinners — Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy and Axar Patel retained their spots.
At the toss, Suryakumar Yadav said, “We were looking to bowl first, happy with it. We played just one strip away, was a nice wicket and better to bat on in the night. It’s humid so hoping for some dew. Same team.”
India playing XI: Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, Suryakumar Yadav(c), Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson(w), Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Varun Chakaravarthy.
Pakistan playing XI: Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Mohammad Haris(w), Fakhar Zaman, Salman Agha(c), Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Nawaz, Faheem Ashraf, Shaheen Afridi, Sufiyan Muqeem, Abrar Ahmed.
