The Pakistan cricket team is set to play yet another tri-nation T20I series, this time involving Afghanistan and Sri Lanka, from November 17-29. The venues for the series would be Lahore and Rawalpindi, and is seen as a preparatory one for the T20 World Cup slated to take place next year.
PAK-AFG-SL series in November
As per the format of the series, each team will take on each other in the group stages twice, while the top sides will directly qualify for the final. The Gaddafi Stadium, which was recently renovated, will host the final on November 29. The schedule is also out for the series, with Afghanistan to meet Sri Lanka in the opening clash, while Pakistan start their campaign on the 22nd.
ACB CEO Naseeb Khan confirmed the developments, and said, “This is an encouraging development as the Afghanistan National Team continues to play against top international sides. These matches will provide ideal preparation for all three teams ahead of the T20 World Cup. I am confident our players will perform well, and fans will thoroughly enjoy the series.”
As far as the ongoing tri-series between Afghanistan, Pakistan and UAE is concerned the first two are to play in the final on Sunday, in Sharjah. Afghanistan had beaten Pakistan in one of the league matches earlier.
