After West Zone’s batting exploits on the second day of the Duleep Trophy semis against Central Zone, it is now the turn of the opposition to bat for long hours, on a suitable CoE wicket. Chasing the first innings total of 438, the Rajat Patidar-led team is in a strong position at 229/2, with the skipper (47) and Shubham Sharma (60) at the crease. A first innings lead looks inevitable, and that could just seal the deal for the CE on the third morning.
On the other hand, a depleted South Zone managed to score 536 before getting all out. While they might miss out on a few seasoned bowlers in their team, but the runs cushion will put massive pressure on Ankit Kumar’s team, who is leading in the absence of Shubman Gill. Nishant Sindhu picked up five wickets for his side, while N Jagadeesan scored 197 for SZ.
