There are some players, who just disappear without much fault of their own. And for years, they are talked about. Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar belongs to that list. Bhuvi, as he well-known in cricketing circles, last played for Team India back in 2022, and since then has been ignored constantly.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar Out of Team Since 2022
In an interview with Dainik Jagran, Bhuvneshwar Kumar opened up on his depleting chances, and how it is not in his hand to make a comeback. “Aapko iska uttar chayanakarta denge (Only the selectors can answer that),” Bhuvneshwar said. And rightly so. The pacer can only perform, and the rest is up to the men who make the decisions.
“My job is to give 100 percent on the field, and I’m doing that. If I get a chance to play for Uttar Pradesh in the Mushtaq Ali, Ranji, or One-Day formats after the UP league, I will give my best there too,” he added. “As a disciplined bowler, my focus remains on fitness and line-length. No matter how well you perform, sometimes luck doesn’t favour you.”
Selectors Need to Take a Call
But Bhuvi is still hopeful, that with Rajeev Shukla as the BCCI president, his efforts won’t go unnoticed. “Your performance is paramount. If someone plays good cricket consistently, they cannot be ignored for long. Even if you’re not selected, focus on giving your 100 percent. The rest is up to the selectors. With Rajeev Shukla as president, it will be difficult to overlook talent.”
The 35-year-old was excellent in IPL 2025 and played a pivotal role in RCB’s maiden trophy journey. In 14 matches, he claimed 17 wickets, and was their one of the most successful bowlers of the season.
