It is time for yet another report on Sanju Samson’s alleged IPL trade deal between RR and CSK. Now, RevSportz has revealed that the move is unlikely, since both the teams involved are taking it easy. CSK aren’t going out of their way to get the keeper-batter, nor does RR owner Manoj Badale seems interested.
It was reported, that Sanju Samson had requested his team to release him after the IPL 2025. But that seems far from truth, as of now. He had made clear his intentions to stay, in an interview with R Ashwin. “Our owner (Manoj Badale) will take a call on this, he will decide,” a Royals insider told RevSportz.
It was also widely speculated that Sanju had a fallout with coach Rahul Dravid, and the source denied any such happening. With regards to the captaincy, the decision is not yet made. “That too would be decided by the owner.” On the other hand, CSK reportedly had informal communication with the batter, but they too have gone back on their wish.
“No, no, we aren’t having any discussion with Rajasthan Royals about him at this moment,” a CSK official told. “It’s all rumours. We can’t tell about the future, but as of now, nothing.” Ashwin too had explained with clarity, that the deal seems improbable, since RR have nothing much to gain from the IPL trade deal.
“Why the CSK-RR trade won’t work is because if Sanju is traded to CSK, and RR then try to trade with other teams, they are unlikely to get valuable players in return,” Ash said on his YouTube channel. For example, if RR want a spinner like Ravi Bishnoi and approach LSG, the problem is that if LSG acquire Sanju and give away Bishnoi, they also have to manage the remaining purse required to retain Sanju, which becomes LSG’s responsibility.”
“CSK generally don’t believe in trading. They aren’t going to trade players like Ravindra Jadeja or Shivam Dube. So, in all likelihood, Sanju coming to CSK is bleak for the reasons I have explained. RR don’t have much to gain from this kind of trade.”
