Nearly 2 months and 24 days after the Bengaluru stampede that saw 11 die and several injured, Royal Challengers Bengaluru posted an emotional message for fans on social media. In a tragic turn of events on June 4 following RCB’s IPL 2025 win, chaos broke out outside the M Chinnaswamy stadium, leading to multiple deaths and widespread chaos and grief. The team, who last issued a statement post the tragedy on June 5, broke their silence on social media for the first time since then on Thursday.
RCB’s first social media post after Bengaluru stampede
Taking to social media platform X, RCB penned an emotional note for fans, and introduced a new policy called ‘RCB CARES’. The franchise informed the fans that the new concept is being introduced to honour, heal and stand beside fans, a platform for meaningful action.
“This space was once filled with energy, memories and moments that you enjoyed the most.. But June 4th changed everything. That day broke our hearts, and the silence since then has been our way of holding space,” RCB wrote.
In the aftermath of the Bengaluru stampede, the Justice Cunha Commission, in its report, stated that the M Chinnaswamy stadium was unfit to hold large public events. The Commission’s report claimed that the stadium’s “design and structure” are inherently “unsuitable and unsafe” for mass gatherings. It stated that hosting any mass events in the future would be an unacceptable risk to public safety. The Justice Cunha Commission has blamed RCB, DNA Entertainment and the KSCA for the stampede.
As a result, Women’s Cricket World Cup matches and the Maharaja Trophy matches were denied permission to be hosted at the venue and have been moved out of Bengaluru. While this is a huge blow for the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), it is also a matter of concern for RCB, who could potentially end up being homeless in IPL 2026.
