Just over a month before the Women’s World Cup 2025 in India, Bangladesh have hit a nadir. The Nigar Sulatana led outfit succumbed to a 87-run defeat against the U-15 boys. In a chase of 183, Bangladesh Women were bowled out for 94 in 38 overs.
Bangladesh Women lose to u1-5 boys ahead of Women’s World Cup 2025
Bangladesh’s senior women’s team begun preparations for the Women’s World Cup 2025. The side featured in a three-team One Day tournament, featuring Bangladesh Green women’s team and a u15 Bangladesh boys team. The senior women’s team featured as Bangladesh Women’s Red. In the second game of the Cup, Bangladesh Men’s Under-15 team defeated Bangladesh Women’s Team Red by 87 runs.
The Red team were bowled out for 94 in 38 overs, in their chase of 182. As per reports, only four batters in Bangladesh Women could reach double digits with opener Sarmin Sultana top scoring with 20.
It is not an ideal preparation for the Bangladesh side ahead of the Women’s World Cup. Nigar Sultana’s side brushed off competitors in the qualifiers, to make the main tournament ahead of heavyweights West Indies.
Bangladesh will hope to regroup quickly in time for the tournament. Besides the One Day Cup, Sultana and Co have two warm up games in Colombo before the tournament. They will then go up against all 7 teams in the tournament.
