India batter Sarfaraz Khan made a massive statement for a comeback in the national side, as he went on to score a century on the opening day of the Buchi Babu Trophy for Mumbai, against TNCA XI on Monday. The 27-year-old got to his milestone in only 92 deliveries, in the most testing situations.
Sarfaraz Khan Slams Ton in Buchi Babu
After Mumbai opted to bat, Mumbai were stranded at 98/3, when Sarfaraz came into bat. And from there on he added 72 runs with Suved Parkar. But it wasn’t the best of starts for Mumbai skipper Ayush Mhatre, who was dismissed for 17, while Musheer Khan was out for 30.
This performance has come after Sarfaraz Khan was in the news for shedding 17 kg recently, in just two months. The Mumbaikar was not considered for the IND vs ENG Tests, and had a point to prove. And with the West Indies series just around the corner, a comeback could well be on the cards.
Could be in Running for WI Series
In fact, Sarfaraz was exceptional in the IND A vs ENG A Test, where he went on to score 92 in one of the innings. From there on, he wasn’t considered for the second A Test, and was sent back home post that. As far as his Test record is concerned, he has played 6 Tests, scoring 371 runs at an average of 37.10.
In 55 FC matches, he has scored 4685 runs, including 16 tons and 15 fifties, at an average of 66. Now, the batter will have to continue with his form in the Ranji Trophy, that starts on October 15.
