PCB set to make big changes in Pakistan central contracts 2025-26, white-ball specialist set to be dropped

Usman Khan, who had left UAE, to be able to play for Pakistan, is all set to be left out of the central contracts for 2025-26.

It is that time of the year, when the PCB has to decide on the changes needed in the central contracts for players. And with some poor performances throughout the year, there could be a significant shuffle in the existing contracts. As per a report in GeoSuper, the discussions have entered the final stages, some players are set to be dropped, and some are set to be picked for the first time.

Major Changes in Group D?

What seems certain is, players who are no longer part of any of the three formats, will be ousted for sure. Those include Aamir Jamal, Mohammad Huraira, Haseebullah, Usman Khan and Mohammad Ali. The ones to get the contract this time would be, Hasan Nawaz, Mohammad Haris, Sufyan Muqeem, Hasan Ali, Faheem Ashraf, and Fakhar Zaman.

There is serious discussion over the names of Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Nawaz, Sahibzada Farhan. These contracts, finally will be made public after the approval from PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi. Apart from that, the T20I squad for the tri-series, and the Asia Cup would be announced in the next 2-3 days as well.

Asia Cup Team Announcement Soon

Also, instead of a 15-member squad, the PCB is likely to name 18 players in their squad, and the discussions with Salman Ali Agha and Mike Hesson have already started. It is also believed that upcoming pacers like Salman Mirza and Ahmed Daniyal could be in contention as well.

Pakistan’s tri-series will begin against Afghanistan on August 29, while the Asia Cup will get underway on September 9. They play their first match against Oman on September 12.
