Karun Nair signals he is ready for West Indies series, "looking forward" to put in hard yards

Karun Nair had scored 205 runs in the IND vs ENG series, including a fifty, at an average of 25.

There were all sorts of speculations around Karun Nair, during the IND vs ENG series, where he was coming back into the side after a gap of nine years. Naturally, it wasn’t easy for him, as he could manage only one fifty on the entire tour, scoring 255 runs at an average of 25. A lot was said, how it could the last for him. And there were others who disagreed.

Karun Nair for West Indies Series?

But in all his innings, he looked the part, and a player who could serve the Indian team for a longer time. In an exclusive interview with InsideSport, Karun Nair revealed, what his thoughts were, when he was included in the XIs, and his batting positions kept changing.

“No batting number preference really. I just wanted to get back in the team and represent my country. It was a dream for me. I was ready to bat wherever the management asked me to.” This is a signal enough that the 33-year-old is hungry to score heaps of runs for the team.

“Looking Forward”, Says Batter

For those questioning his place in the next Test series, it seems he would make it for sure. Indian Test team plays next only in October, against the West Indies, in a two-match series. “Yes, looking forward to the West Indies series. We have a long break before that. Looking to getting better as players.. in terms of fitness, in terms of skills. Whenever we have the time, we will put in the hard work, to get ready for the series.”
