Rajasthan Royals are yet to receive an offer for Sanju Samson from CSK as IPL 2026 trade rumours make a storm in recent days

Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals future is seemingly coming to a close. The 30-year-old is believed to have asked for a trade, with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) among the interested parties. Samson would be targeted to succeed MS Dhoni. However, no trade has materialised as of yet.

No CSK offer yet, No rift between Sanju and RR

As per a RevSportz report, a Rajasthan Royals insider denied any rift between the franchise and the team captain. Samson has been the captain for the last 5 seasons, leading them to the 2022 IPL Final and the playoffs 3 more times. While it is clear that the 30-year-old still wants to leave the franchise, it is not due to differences between him and the team, as reported before. Royals were confident of keeping hold of their star earlier, but push might come to shove and a move could materialise.

Samson is India’s T20I opener and has 3 centuries in the last 12 months. On his day, Samson is a game winner alongside being an astute leader. The Kerala star has led the side admirably, but after 11 seasons, believes his race is run. CSK would be a likely destination, with the franchise openly interested in him.

However, the five-time champions are yet to make a concrete offer for the 30-year-old. Dhoni is still CSK’s keeper, and Samson could fill that up. Ruturaj Gaikwad is the CSK captain, but missed out on half the season due to injury. The previous year, Chennai failed to make the playoffs. CSK are also believed to have ruled out player trading as a policy, and will only seek a cash deal or try to buy Samson in the auction.

Samson is under contract with RR until 2027 and they could ideally hold on to him till the next mega auction. However, it is unlikely that the Royals hold on to him when he is adamant about an exit.
