Team India begin month-long break after Oval delight, Asia Cup next challenge

India's next international match will be against the UAE on September 10.

Team India have departed from England after two months. No one had given the fairly experienced team any chance. There was a new captain at the helm, Shubman Gill. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma had recently retired. Jasprit Bumrah was going to play just 3 matches.

Team India return home

India have lost a first home series after 12 years. Failed to hold the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a decade in the lead-up. Despite all of this, India was extremely close to winning the series. Prior to the tour, anyone would have accepted a 2-2 result.

But had India scored just 22 more runs at Lord’s, they would have returned by winning the series 3-1. Of course, it could have gone the other way as well. But it just shows how well India played that they went toe to toe against Bazballers, who haven’t lost a series at home since 2022.

They have earned the valuable month-long break, especially the fast bowlers. Mohammed Siraj bowled the most overs and took the most wickets, and deserves to kick his feet up for a while. The same goes for Prasidh Krishna and Akash Deep, both of whom were part of the two wins India claimed.

The next challenge for India will be the Asia Cup 2025. The tournament starts in just over a month in the UAE. And September 10 will be the date for Men in Blue’s match against the home team, UAE, at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
