Welcome to our special segment, DRS or the Daily Review System. In this, InsideSport will provide you with the top cricket stories from a day before that you might have missed in the hustle and bustle of your busy life.

Karun Nair was dropped to begin the first day of the Manchester Test, and it ended with Shubman Gill getting out while offering no shot and Rishabh Pant being retired hurt. In between these occurrences, we heard that BCCI will attend the ACC annual meeting. That Rajat Patidar has worsened his Test selection chances, and that Mayank Yadav won’t play in 2025.

DRS 1

Rishabh Pant retired hurt

Rishabh Pant was forced to retire hurt after a ball took the edge of his bat and smashed into his right foot. Such was the extent of Pant’s injury that he had to be wheeled out. As of now, one doesn’t even know whether Pant would take any further part in the Manchester Test.

DRS 2

BCCI to be part of ACC meeting

BCCI has agreed to be part of the ACC annual meeting after previously being unhappy with its venue. The Indian board won’t send an official to Dhaka but instead will attend the meeting virtually. The major point of the tête-à-tête will be the Asia Cup 2025.

DRS 3

Karun Nair dropped

After three failures, Karun Nair was dropped from India’s playing XI for the Manchester Test. Sai Sudharsan took his place at number three. The other two changes were Anshul Kamboj making his Test debut, replacing Akash Deep, and Shardul Thakur coming in for Nitish Kumar Reddy.

LSG’s retention problem for IPL 2026

LSG’s three leading fast bowlers have undergone surgeries and won’t be fit for the next 6 to 8 months. Mayank Yadav has had his back operated on in New Zealand, while Avesh Khan and Mohsin Khan underwent knee surgeries. Neither will be fit before the IPL 2026 auction. LSG will have to ponder whether to retain them or not.

DRS 5

Rajat Patidar to miss Duleep Trophy

Rajat Patidar’s decision to play for RCB in the playoffs means that he won’t be fit for selection for the 2025-26 Duleep Trophy. Carrying a right-hand injury, Patidar played despite pain in the hopes of winning IPL 2025. He’s achieved that, but this might set him back when it comes to being in contention for India’s Test team.

DRS 6

Shubman Gill’s horror error

Shubman Gill’s dry run after that record-breaking spree in Leeds continues. The Indian Test captain got out in the worst possible manner. He shouldered arms to an incoming ball from England captain Ben Stokes and had to walk back in disappointment. Gill’s dismissal was even worse than Karun Nair’s leave at Lord’s.
