IPL 2026: 3 teams who should target ex-RCB all-rounder Cameron Green

Cameron Green pulled out of IPL 2025 as he went under the knife and was recovering, but could make his way back into the league in 2026

After missing IPL 2025 due to his recovery from a back injury, Cameron Green could might as well make a comeback in 2026 with a bang. The Australian all-rounder made his IPL debut with Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2023 following which he was traded to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2024. He withdrew from the IPL 2025 mega-auction as he underwent a surgery and wasn’t cleared to play until May.

Making his comeback to the shortest format after a gap of ten months, Green slammed a half-century to help Australia defeat West Indies in the 1st T20I on Monday. While he hasn’t bowled yet after making his comeback to competitive cricket, there’s no doubt his batting skills are highly valued. Here’s a look at three teams who could look to add Green to their squad in IPL 2026.

3 teams who should try & buy Green in IPL 2026

1. Rajasthan Royals

One team that could make good use of Green in IPL 2026 are RR. The side’s number 3 and number 4 – Riyan Parag and Nitish Rana failed to deliver effective performances in IPL 2025, putting pressure on the openers and the middle-order batters. Besides, Rana could possibly leave RR in IPL 2026 and move back to KKR.

Also, Shimron Hetmyer wasn’t able to execute his role as a finisher to perfection and instead Dhruv Jurel had to do so. Green’s addition to RR can allow the team to use the Australian in the middle-order to fill the void created by lack of run-scoring.

2. Sunrisers Hyderabad

With Ishan Kishan failing to fire in IPL 2025 after a brilliant first outing for SRH, Pat Cummins and co. could potentially target Green. SRH captain Cummins is no stranger to sharing the dressing room with the all-rounder and probably knows the best way to use him – both with bat and ball. Should Green be picked up by SRH, he could end the team’s number 3 woes while allow Heinrich Klaasen to come out at his usual position at number 4.

3. Delhi Capitals

DC are another team who could benefit by adding Green to their line-up. The youngster is flexible to bat either at number 3 or 4 and can easily replace Karun Nair in the playing XI. If reports are to be believed, DC are looking to trade Faf du Plessis and Jake Fraser-McGurk ahead of IPL 2026. In that case, they would use KL Rahul and Abhishek Porel as openers, which leaves the crucial number 3 and 4 slots empty. Green could very well fit in the line-up by batting at those positions.

Note – So far, there is no confirmation the dates for IPL 2026 mini-auction. With the Ashes coming up, it remains to be seen if Green would register himself at the mini-auction.
