After the West Indies were bundled out for mind-boggling 27 in the third Test vs Australia, the Cricket West Indies has called for an emergency meeting with legends like — Brian Lara, Clive Lloyd, and Viv Richards. The trio will join Shivnarine Chanderpaul, and Desmond Haynes, on the Cricket Strategy and Officiating Committee, to come up with a plan to counter team’s poor performances.
West Indies Team Surrenders to Aussie Bowlers
For the record, WI team has been in doldrums for a very long time. Their 27-run innings recorded seven ducks in the innings — the most by any team in the history of the game. Dr Kishore Shallow, who happens to be the president of the CWI, came up with rather lengthy statement on the entire situation.
“Like every West Indian cricket fan, I felt the pain of our recent Test defeat to Australia,” he said. “There will be some sleepless nights ahead for many of us, including the players, who I know feel this loss just as heavily. But while disappointment is natural, we must not allow this moment to define our journey. We are in a rebuilding phase, steadily investing in the next generation, and reigniting the spirit that has long made West Indies cricket a force in the world.
CWI Calls for Meeting With Legends
“Progress is rarely straightforward. It takes time, perseverance, and belief, especially in our most difficult moments. The road ahead will test us, but I have faith in the talent and commitment of our players when they apply themselves. We have already seen encouraging signs, particularly with the ball. Our batters are keen, but now must be even more deliberate as they work to improve.”
Such has been their dwindling fortunes in the longest format, that they last won a Test series, in 2022 vs Zimbabwe. If one just talks about the top Test nations, they won against England 1-0, way back in 2021-22. And in between that, it has all been poor returns.
