Shubman Gill’s India have been dominant in the first two Tests of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. The batting, particularly, has been superb. However, this is despite Shreyas Iyer, who was in form of his life recently, not being there. The stylish Mumbai batter is currently holidaying in Spain, far from the Test buzz, and seems in no hurry to dwell on his exclusion from the red-ball squad.
Sarpanch Shreyas In Spain

The India and Punjab Kings captain shared a glimpse of his vacation through an Instagram post on Tuesday, captioning it “hola españa 🇪🇸.” Dressed in a white T-shirt, brown pants and white sneakers, Iyer was seen strolling the streets of Spain. In an Instagram story, he cheekily added, “A Pistachio in a Matcha world.”
Iyer was widely tipped to be in contention for a Test recall, especially after the retirements of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma opened up key spots in the middle order. However, the selectors opted to go with experience and going names like Karun Nair, Sai Sudharsan, and Abhimanyu Easwaran instead. Iyer’s exclusion surprised many, especially considering his strong domestic form in which he scored 480 runs in the 2024–25 Ranji Trophy season at an average of 68.57, including two centuries.
