LSG spinner Digvesh Singh Rathi’s notebook celebration has once again landed him in trouble, and this time around the punishment is much harsh. After his antics against Abhishek Sharma in the LSG vs SRH battle, Rathi has been fined 50 per cent on his fees, and also has been handed a one match suspension.
Suspension for Digvesh Singh Rathi
Meanwhile, this wasn’t the first time that Digvesh Singh Rathi had pulled off something like this. Earlier in the tournament he had been fined twice for the level 1 offence under article 2. So, in addition to the thee demerit points (one each against PBKS and two vs MI) earlier, and two now as well, he faces the strict punishment. That, in short means, he won’t play in the LSG vs GT match on May 22 in Ahmedabad.
On the other hand, Abhishek Sharma, the other party in the incident, has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees. This happens to be his first Level 1 offence, and has garnered one demerit point. It is important to note that the youngster has been fined INR 5,62,500 already.
Incident With Abhishek Sharma Takes Ugly Turn
The fresh incident occurred when the bowler got rid of Abhishek Sharma, after scoring 59 from 20 deliveries only. Truth be told, both parties were equally responsible, with the latter also engaging a confrontation. As far as the match is concerned, SRH crossed the finish line with utmost ease.
Chasing 206, Hyderabad was in total control throughout the chase and won with 10 deliveries to spare. Apart from Abhishek, there were valuable contributions from Heirich Klaasen — 47 from 28, and also Kusal Mendis, who scored a quickfire 32 from 21.
