GT create history, become first team with 3 batters to score 500 runs each in IPL season

GT's Gill, Sudharsan and Buttler each have over 500 runs to their name so far in IPL 2025

Gujarat Titans unlocked a unique milestone on Tuesday, with three of their batters going to on to amass 500+ runs in an IPL season. No other team has managed to have three batters with over 500 runs in a single season in the history of the tournament. Captain Shubman Gill, opener Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler have amassed over 500 runs in IPL 2025 so far and are ruling the Orange Cap chart.

GT trio achieve unique milestone

Gill breached the 500-run mark on Tuesday in the game against MI. The GT skipper was named Player of the Match for his 43-run knock. Meanwhile, Sai Sudharsan had a rare failure in IPL 2025 after he was dismissed for just 5 runs. Regardless of his performance against MI, he is still second on the Orange Cap standings.

Jos Buttler became the third GT batter to touch the 500-run mark in IPL 2025 with his 30-run knock. GT’s top three batters have been the most powerful and consistent in this season.

What happened in MI vs GT match?

In a cat and mouse game with rain and time, Gujarat Titans beat Mumbai Indians by 3 wickets on DLS method to go top of the IPL Points Table. Needing 15 off 1 over, Gerald Coetzee and Rahul Tewatia ensured GT end MI’s six-match winning streak. There was drama throughout, with rain flirting with the fate of both teams.

GT were 8 runs ahead when rain interrupted the match for the first time. But after the break, Jasprit Bumrah bowled terrific two overs along with Ashwani Kumar. However, rain returned again and the script flipped with GT trailing by 4 runs on DLS par score. But rain stopped and the match resumed at 12:30 AM with GT needing 15 runs to win in 1 over. The match curtailed to 19 overs.

Trent Boult struck in his first over, removing Sai Sudharsan with rain around. Mumbai Indians posted 155/8 after what promised to be a 200+ total. But with Sai Kishore triggering a collapse, MI lost five wickets for 26 runs, managing just 67/4 in the middle overs. However, Corbin Bosch saved MI the blushes with 22-ball 27 to take them past 150.
