Digvesh Rathi denied notebook celebration by Rishabh Pant, until Lord Shardul Thakur comes to rescue

Digvesh Singh Rathi was picked up by the LSG franchise, at his base price, but has delivered more than the star players in IPL 2025.

In this IPL 2025, there haven’t been many occasions where LSG leg-spinner Digvesh Singh Rathi has gone wicketless; the match against GT on Saturday, could certainly have been that bad match. First, he was denied a wicket by Abdul Samad, who dropped Sai Sudharsan for 49, and then it was skipper Rishabh Pant, who missed a difficult chance of Sherfane Rutherford on the youngster’s bowling.

It seemed as if, his LSG teammates had decided, not to let him pick up a wicket, so that he can’t perform his notebook celebration, which had already led to multiple fines. But then Digvesh Singh Rathi certainly had other plans, as in his last over of the day, he finally got rid of Jos Buttler, with Lord Shardul Thakur coming to his rescue.

Lord Shardul Thakur Comes to the Rescue

Shardul had to run backwards in a bid to complete the catch, and did that well enough. Meanwhile, the bowler now has eight wickets in six matches, where his economy has been brilliant at 7.73. Against DC he was mighty impressive when he had returned with figures of 2/31, and soon enough, followed it up with 2/30 vs PBKS.

It needs to be reminded, that Rathi has been fined twice in the IPL 2025. In total, he has had to pay INR 5,62.500 for his celebration-related offence in the tournament. Any such further punishment, could also invite a ban from the BCCI, apart from earning demerit points.
