The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) weren’t having a great Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. But the situation may have worsened for them. Their captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, has been ruled out due to an elbow injury. And while that’s bad for the team, former cricketer Ambati Rayudu thinks that fans will be excited. Why? Because MS Dhoni will be returning as CSK captain.
Dhoni can take CSK to IPL 2025 Playoffs
Rayudu, who played for the franchise from 2018 to 2023, feels that Dhoni can take CSK to the IPL 2025 Playoffs. Since the wicketkeeper is the greatest captain in the league’s history, he feels it’s very much possible that CSK get out of their rut.
As of now, the Yellow Army has won just 1 of their 5 matches. Qualification seems tough, but if anyone can take CSK to the final four, it’ll be Dhoni, reckons Rayudu. One can’t forget that Thala has the most IPL trophies as captain to his name, 5, along with Rohit Sharma, and has the best winning percentage of any IPL captain.
“It’s very sad that Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of CSK, has been ruled out of the IPL. But all the fans will definitely be excited to see MS Dhoni lead CSK again, and he can always pull out his magic and make CSK qualify from here. It will be a great story. I’m very excited and just hope that he weaves his magic for the CSK team,” Rayudu told ESPNcricinfo.
