IPL 2025: PBKS opener Priyansh Arya smashes second-fastest IPL hundred by an Indian

In this IPL 2025, Priyansh Arya had returned with scores 47, 8 and 0, before slamming his maiden ton in the tournament.

Priyansh Arya scored the second fastest hundred by an Indian in the Indian Premier League. Yusuf Pathan, who scored a hundred off 37 balls for Rajasthan Royals 15 years ago, still holds the record for the fastest IPL hundred by an Indian. Overall, Chris Gayle ‘s 30-ball hundred is still the fastest in the IPL.

Priyansh Arya Slams Maiden Ton in IPL

Priyansh Arya, who was signed up by Punjab Kings in the auction last year, hit a hundred off just 39 balls against five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings in Mullanpur on Tuesday. The New Delhi lad is the son of school teachers, and was snapped up by PBKS for Rs 3.80 crore in the player auction in November. He started off with a polished 47 against Gujarat Titans on his IPL debut before falling for 8 against Lucknow Super Giants and getting a duck against Rajasthan Royals.

Arya’s knock was studded with 7 fours and 9 sixes. The 24-year-old was fluent against the likes of Khaleel Ahmed and R Ashwin and did not even look like an uncapped player in the course of his 42-ball 103. He came within touching distance of scoring the second fastest hundred in the IPL which still belongs to Yusuf Pathan.

Back in 2010, Yusuf had hammered a 37-ball hundred for Rajasthan Royals against Mumbai Indians. Three years later, Chris Gayle smashed a hundred off just 30 balls for Royal Challengers Bengaluru against Pune Warriors India – it still is the record for the fastest IPL hundred.
