With his 73-run knock against RCB, Buttler joined Gayle and de Villiers on the list of batters who have dominated an opponent in IPL

Gujarat Titans batter Jos Buttler powered the side to a mammoth 8-wicket victory over RCB in Bengaluru on Wednesday. The former England skipper stayed unbeaten on 73 runs at the end of the run-chase as Patidar and co. were handed a defeat in their very first home game. With that knock, Buttler has now joined former RCB stars Chris Gayle and Ab de Villiers on the list of batter who have dominated an opposition in IPL.

Buttler’s domination over RCB continues

Buttler’s 73-run knock off 39 deliveries was studded with five sixes and fours each. With a strike rate of 187.18, the GT batter made the run-chase look very easy for the team. He joins de Villiers and Gayle on the list of batters with 500+ runs averaging 50+ and a strike rate of above 150 against an opponent in the IPL.

Buttler has been consistent so far in IPL 2025. He found a new home in GT after being released by RR ahead of IPL 2025 mega auction. In three matches for GT, he has two half-centuries to his name.

With Shubman Gill falling in the third over, Jos Buttler took his time to settle before going all guns blazing. After 54 and 39 in the two previous innings, he showed he still had it in him, even though he was demoted to the No 3 spot in IPL 2025.

“I don’t know, pretty embarrassed. I tried to celebrate in a Herschelle Gibbs style, tried to celebrate way too early. We know Salt is a dangerous player. I barely got a glove on it, and it hit me in the chest. So, I was determined to score some runs,” Jos Buttler said at the post-match presentation.
