Former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan reportedly gave it his all to be retained on the list of IPL 2025 commentators but failed. The ex-CSK all-rounder was snubbed from commentary duties following some reservations expressed by players over his biased discourse.
Pathan’s desperate attempt to be part of IPL 2025
As per MyKhel, the IPL 2025 broadcaster refused to include Pathan’s name in the commentary list despite the ex-Indian cricketer using his close aide to get the job done. The publication claimed that Irfan knew the sacking was coming.
“Irfan Pathan knew the IPL sacking was coming. He tried his best to get retained but the broadcaster had other plans,” a source told MyKhel.
Why Pathan won’t do commentary in IPL 2025
As per MyKhel, a section of players reportedly complained about Pathan, accusing him of brining his personal judgement in commentary. The report claims that an Indian team cricketer even went to the extent of blocking Pathan after being upset over the way the latter was taking about him during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
“Otherwise, his name would have been there. It’s been happening for the last two years as he was carrying his personal agendas against certain players and that didn’t go down well with the system,” a source told Mykhel.

Meanwhile, Pathan has turned towards YouTube after being snubbed from commentary duties in IPL 2025. He took to social media platform X to announce the launch of his new channel ‘Seedhi baat’ with Irfan Pathan, urging fans to shower him with love and support.
