Impact on Women’s cricket
While the PCB announced increasing contracts from 79 to 90 cricketers, now, they reduced in-hand pay for players. The board claimed the aim was to expand the talent pool and motivate young players. Limited earning opportunities
A domestic player gets a maximum of 31 days of cricket in three PCB tournaments, with potential earnings of PKR 1,040,000 for the season. A domestic player shared, “Living in Pakistan, not everyone can afford a professional athlete life. It’s up to you how well you manage your cricket training within the means that you have.” For many, costs like personal trainers and managed diets are unaffordable, impacting their growth as cricketers.
