India winning the Champions Trophy and clinching the 12-year ICC ODI trophy drought is currently the talk of the town, but all eyes are on the fielding medal. So, who won the award this time?

Although the fielding wasn’t up to the mark by Indian players in the Champions Trophy final vs New Zealand, no one can deny the fielding efforts made by the Indian team throughout the 2025 tournament. This effort played a crucial role in India becoming champions. That’s right, India won the tournament by defeating quality sides, and when they faced kiwis in the final, there were a few hiccups, but they still managed to do well and clinch the trophy. This marks India’s third Champions Trophy title.

Ravindra Jadeja clinches Best fielder medal in CT 2025 final

Speaking about fielding medal, the tradition started by India’s fielding coach, T Dilip, during the 2023 ODI World Cup of awarding the Best Fielder Medal has now become a regular part of India’s dressing room during ICC tournaments. After the final, T Dilip announced the winner. The contenders were captain Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja, but Jadeja ultimately won the award. Commenting on Jadeja’s performance while announcing the winner, T Dilip said, “He has been delivering exceptional performances with the ball, but the way he chased the ball today, executing bullet throws and cutting the angles, was outstanding. It’s Ravindra Jadeja.”

India’s catch efficiency below par in CT 2025

Not really on top, as seen in the table. India surely won the Champions Trophy 2025, but the Men in Blue have also been known for their fielding, especially since the ODI World Cup 2023, where the team started many fielding traditions that led to results. However, in the recently held Champions Trophy, things didn’t end up as expected. India’s catch efficiency percentage after the final came out to be 50%. In the final, we saw how many catches were dropped, which is not something you would typically expect from the Indian side.
