No one knows if India skipper Rohit Sharma is retiring after the Champions Trophy final on Sunday, or not. But then, there surely is a buzz around the same, and just about everyone has their fingers crossed. But then whether or not he retires or not is a separate issue — but for now, Rohit just ended his innings with a brilliant 76 from 83 deliveries, putting India in a position of strength.

He was stumped on the bowling off Rachin Ravindra, trying to increase the pace of the chase, and trying to break the deadlock, with Tom Latham doing the needful behind the stumps.
While no one would want Rohit Sharma to retire from the ODIs just yet, but then, he just showed the way to the others, as to how to sign off, if at all. Chasing a decent 252 vs New Zealand in Dubai, on the night of the final, the 37-year-old didplayed no nerves whatsoever, and got to his 50 only in 41 deliveries.
Improves his ICC ODI Final Record
He did not let the momentum shift even when India lost Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli in quick succession, and just shifted the gears for a bit, working around the ball in the outfield for ones and twos. This innings also meant that Rohit improved his record in the ICC ODI finals, where he had failed big time in the Champions Trophy 2013 final, followed by the 2017 final, and also the 2023 World Cup final.
In the 2013 final, he had scored 9 from 14, followed by a 0 vs Pakistan in 2017 final. His best performance was in 2023 World Cup final, where he scored 47 form 37 deliveries, but his effort went in vain. That meant an average of 18.6 in these three innings. But now, that average stands at 33.
