The Champions. Rohit Sharma and his men have done it. The Men in Blue’s flawless campaign got that crown that it deserved. New Zealand gave scares momentarily but the nerves shown by KL Rahul and vital contributions from every player got the job done. Below we see the Player rating for all the Indians after their third ICC Champions Trophy final win.
Report Card for India at ICC Champions Trophy final
1. Shubman Gill: 4.5/10
Shubman Gill bid his time due to Rohit Sharma’s blitz against the new ball. Gill had the perfect opportunity to seize the moment and make it big one. However, he was taken aback with a stupendous one handed stunner by Glenn Phillips. Gill couldn’t have done much with that dismissal. Apart from this, Gill even shelled out an easy chance in the outfield.
2. Rohit Sharma: 9/10
Rohit Sharma was due for runs in the entire Champions Trophy. He didn’t manage to play outside the powerplay but oh boy what an eventful show he put up! When Rohit is in, the match looks a one-sided affair. His batting was something out of ordinary, hitting bowlers for boundaries with immense ease.
However, it was quite important for Rohit to stay for long when India lost both Gill and Kohli early. He had to get into triple figures but the Indian captain threw it away. He went to charge Rachin Ravindra down the ground but was done with the massive turn and was stumped.
3. Virat Kohli: 1/10
It wasn’t to be. After all the hype for Virat Kohli and his stellar record at ICC finals and in crunch situations, Kohli’s innings was cut short courtesy of a superb off-spin by Michael Bracewell. Kohli was stunned with the sharp turn, leaving everyone in disbelief.
4. Shreyas Iyer: 8/10
Shreyas Iyer had a perfect opportunity to become the face of the cricket till the next World Cup. He got set, and the chase wasn’t an improbable one. It was tricky but Shreyas Iyer had to dig in and bat till the end. Unfortunately, he couldn’t. Iyer’s innings was a bit sluggish but it did push the second innings forward. He had a couple of reprieves and the situation was set for him to take the match home. However, in an attempt to innovate runs, he also left it there.
5. Axar Patel: 8.5/10
Let’s first talk about his bowling. He didn’t have a wicket next to his column but Axar bowled superbly. He kept the things tight and didn’t allow the Kiwi batters to amp up the run rate. Now, his batting was once again absolutely crucial.
Bappu came in when some hopes were crushed. Rohit Sharma threw away his wicket and then Axar once again stabilised. Along with Shreyas Iyer, he acted as a pillar and frustrated the Kiwi bowlers emphatically.
6. Kl Rahul: 1000/10
KL Rahul did what he needed to. Unlike Axar Patel, Rohit Sharma, and Shreyas Iyer, he thankfully didn’t threw it away. Rahul went in when the pressure was on and did the job quite delightfully. The ease in his batting sent calming nerves down the Indian faithful.

7. Hardik Pandya: 8/10
With the ball, Hardik Pandya was ordinary. He dug in short multiple times and was taken for boundaries. Rohit made Pandya bowl just three overs, in which he leaked 30 runs. With the bat, Pandya hit those much needed boundaries.
8. Ravindra Jadeja: 8.5/10
When Ravindra Jadeja embraced Virat Kohli after his spell, it raised huge rumours about his retirement. As for as his bowling was concerned, Jaddu kept things tight with his tactical bowling. Jadeja created a couple of chances and eventually gained a phenomenal wicket of Tom Latham.
With the bat, Jadeja came in when the match was all but done. Superbly, it was Jadeja who hit the match-winning boundary.
9. Kuldeep Yadav: 9.5/10
Many argued for Kuldeep Yadav’s place before the final. But oh boy the left-arm weaved his magic. He saved his best for the last, offering India a massive advantage with two biggest wickets. Rachin Ravindra was outdone with a superb googly. For Kane Williamson, Kuldeep bowled it quite slow and took a simple catch off his bowling.
Kuldeep was a regular threat for New Zealand and was in a shout for a possible Player of the Match as well.
10. Mohammed Shami: 6/10
Mohammed Shami didn’t have an ideal record at ICC finals. He played numerous finals but didn’t manage to win it as well. Gladly, his team turned up on the good side but Shami had a disappointing end to his comeback tournament.
Shami was in contention to become the leading wicket-taker of the tournament but he couldn’t. Shami bowled decently with the new ball but Rachin Ravindra negotiated him well. The pitch didn’t offer enough zip for him too. Shami’s only wicket came when Daryl Mitchell went to hoick a slower ball. Otherwise, he leaked runs. Shami gave away 74 runs in his ten overs.
11. Varun Chakaravarthy: 9/10
India were behind in the game with both Will Young and Rachin Ravindra adding a decent opening partnership. Rohit Sharma needed a wicket to open up the game and he threw the rhe ball to Varun Chakaravarthy. And oh boy! He did deliver. The mystery tweaker, who took fifer against New Zealand last time around, delivered a superb show yet again.
Chakaravarthy sent back Young with the nip backer before sending back Glenn Phillips with another beauty. He finished with 2/45.
