Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra opined that India will go on to win the Champions Trophy if Rohit Sharma bats for 20 overs in the final. The Men in Blue will lock horns with the Kiwis on Sunday in the final of the tournament in Dubai. Ahead of the contest, Chopra opined that the Hitman will play a crucial role in India’s success in the game.
Rohit Sharma key to India lifting CT 2025?
In a video on his YouTube channel, Chopra reckoned that Rohit should go out and bat fearlessly in the Champions Trophy final. He vowed that if Sharma batted for 20 overs, then India will go on to lift the Champions Trophy yet again. He also heaped praise on the Hitman’s captaincy, noting that India had lost only one ODI out of the 15 matches in ICC ODI events with Rohit at the helm.
“In the previous three white-ball tournaments, Rohit (as captain) has lost just one match – that was the finals on November 19, 2023. If they win Champions Trophy, then Kohli and Rohit will be the only Indians to have four ICC trophies to their name. What to expect from Sharma? Go out there and play fearlessly but also for long. If he plays for 20 overs, then I promise you we will win it 100%,” Chopra said.

So far, Rohit has managed scores of 41, 20, 15 and 28 in the Champions Trophy. Despite getting off to some good starts, he has lost his wicket early in the innings. He will be aiming to overcome this obstacle on Sunday and go all guns blazing against the Kiwis.
The Hitman also created history by becoming the only captain to lead India into the finals of all four ICC tournaments – WTC final, ODI WC final, T20 WC final and now CT 2025 final.
