New Zealand cricket team head coach Gary Stead opined that the team was ready for India’s spin challenge in Champions Trophy final on Sunday. Rohit Sharma and co’s spin ploy has worked wonders in their last two games. Kuldeep, Jadeja, Axar and Chakravarthy have effectively been able to choke the opposition so far in Champions Trophy. However, the Kiwis are well-prepared for the same in the finals.
New Zealand ready to meet India’s spin challenge in CT 2025 final
Speaking to reporters ahead of Champions Trophy finals, the New Zealand head coach reckoned that the Kiwis were quite well-balanced in terms of the spin threat offered by India. He pinned hopes on Rohit Sharma and co. to miss a step and hand advantage to the Black Caps in the game.
“That’s probably what we expect them to play against us, we also have four spinners in our squad and I think we are pretty well-balanced. It is always a challenge, they (Indian spinners) are very good spinners in their own right and so for us to be clear on our plans, working out that there could be a match-up deciding in the team whether it is the right one to go after…Those are the sorts of things that we have to see throughout the game. Who knows they may have an off day and could hand us the advantage,” Gary Stead said.

Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner and William O’Rourke are among the three New Zealand bowlers who are in the top ten list of leading wicket-takers in CT 2025. Given the surface of the Dubai International Cricket stadium favouring spinners, the Kiwis might be tempted to go for an extra spinner, After all, the uncertainty over Matt Henry’s participation in the final could prompt the Kiwis to field an extra spinner in the finals.
