Gautam Gambhir upset with Virat Kohli? Coach had animated chat with batter after missing out on 100 in CT 2025 semis

Surely, India didn’t miss the Champions Trophy final ticket, but what the camp and Indian fans missed was Virat Kohli’s hundred, which was almost there, especially against Australia in the CT Trophy semi-final.

Some 80s are better than 100s, and that’s exactly what fans felt after witnessing Virat Kohli’s magical innings against Australia in a high-pressure Champions Trophy semi-final. The legendary batter scored 84 runs, playing a crucial role in pushing India to the final.

However, while on the verge of his 52nd ODI hundred, Kohli was dismissed attempting a big shot off Adam Zampa, only to find the long-on fielder. This left many of his fans disappointed, and now, with photos surfacing on social media, it appears that India head coach Gautam Gambhir was also visibly upset with Kohli’s mode of dismissal.

Several pictures on social media show the Indian head coach engaged in an animated discussion with the former India captain. Gambhir seemingly expressed his thoughts on why the shot selection was unnecessary at that stage of the match.

Although the animated discussion may have been just a heat-of-the-moment exchange, there is no clear clarity on what transpired. However, in the post-match press conference, Gambhir couldn’t hold back his praise for the batting genius.

While speaking to the media, the head coach said, “He is a phenomenal one-day cricketer. He knows how to pace his innings, whether setting a target or chasing one. His ability to adapt to conditions quickly is what makes experienced and high-quality players so crucial. That’s why he has such an incredible record in ODI cricket, and I hope he continues this form in the future as well.”

All eyes on IND vs NZ Champions Trophy final

Surely, a big encounter is coming as India is set to meet the Blackcaps in the Champions Trophy final. There is no question that New Zealand has already shown its class in the ongoing tournament, both in the group matches and the semi-finals. Yes, they lost to India, but apart from that, they secured a convincing win over South Africa in the semis and also dominated Bangladesh and Pakistan, showcasing their quality.

What stands out the most is their exceptional fielding, which is why India will need to be cautious. Everything needs to go right on track, as the Blackcaps’ challenge is not going to be easy.
