Hitman of 6s! Rohit Sharma beats Chris Gayle in an all-time record during India-Australia semifinal

Rohit Sharma gave a rollicking start to Team India in the first semifinal vs Australia in Dubai.

Have you seen a better six-hitter in modern-day cricket than Rohit Sharma? You might have but surely not seen a player who makes six-hitting look as elegant as the Hitman. Unfortunately for India, Rohit couldn’t seize the opportunity against Australia’s depleted bowling unit, getting out for 28 at the ICC Champions Trophy semifinal. However, he hit three fours and a six to give a great start to the Men in Blue. His six took Rohit to an incredible feat. Now, the Indian skipper has the most sixes at ICC ODI events.

Rohit Sharma has all kinds of six-hitting records to his name. In fact, he has the most international sixes (633) in the history of cricket. However, against Australia, he toppled another record. With a six off Nathan Ellis’ bowling via a pull short, Rohit now has the most sixes at ICC ODI events. This includes the ICC Champions Trophy and ICC Men’s ODI World Cup tally, where Rohit now has 65 maximums. Overall, Rohit has 2160 runs in these events at an incredible strike rate of 99.40, which is better than Gayle’s (64 sixes) 89.82. At third place is Glenn Maxwell with 49 sixes.
