From energising fans to playfully imitating his teammates, Virat Kohli has always been a big entertainer on the cricket field. On one hand, this legend consistently works his magic with the bat, scoring tons of runs, and on the other, he never misses a chance to mimic his teammates.
During India’s final group-stage clash against New Zealand in the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai, another interesting moment went viral. In a spontaneous and light-hearted gesture, Kohli playfully touched the feet of spinner Axar Patel after he dismissed New Zealand’s Kane Williamson. The incident occurred at the end of the 41st over of New Zealand’s run chase, as Axar provided India with a important breakthrough.
Williamson, who was batting brilliantly and appeared to be on course to snatch the game away from India, was dismissed in style. He had reached 81 and was approaching a well-deserved century when he attempted an aggressive shot off Axar’s delivery but was completely deceived, allowing wicketkeeper KL Rahul to execute a straightforward stumping. Just after Williamson’s dismissal, Kohli approached Axar and, in a playful gesture of respect, bowed down to touch his feet.
India set for the semis!
The group-stage matches are done, and it’s time for the big ICC Champions Trophy semi-final. India is all set to take on Steve Smith and company, aiming to secure a spot in the final with a victory. Meanwhile, Australia is also in great form, especially their batters, who have been consistently delivering impressive performances. However, their bowling remains a concern. But no one can deny how strong the Aussies are in high-pressure matches, making this an exciting clash between two cricketing giants.
