Manjrekar rates "better chaser" Virat Kohli above Sachin Tendulkar, explains why

Sanjay Manjrekar picked Virat Kohli over Sachin Tendulkar as the better chaser for India following the Champions Trophy game vs PAK

Former Indian cricketer Sanjay Manjrekar has picked Virat Kohli over Sachin Tendulkar as the better chaser. The ex-Indian captain turned back the clock to prove why he was the best chase master in the game against Pakistan in Champions Trophy. Manjrekar explained why he rated Kohli over the “God of cricket” when it came to chasing totals, noting that the former had a much better record.

Kohli > Sachin? Manjrekar thinks so

Speaking to Star Sports, Manjrekar explained that Tendulkar liked batting first while Kohli has had a history of chasing down targets for India. He noted that the legendary cricketers may have stayed till the end in a run-chase for India on some occasions but couldn’t match the numbers that Virat has.

One major difference between the two is that I think Virat Kohli is a better chaser than Sachin Tendulkar. Tendulkar liked batting first, and Tendulkar perhaps was a certainty that he was not going to get out against the new ball,” Manjrekar opined.

Virat will have several matches where he has chased down the target and has stayed on till the end. Tendulkar has a few matches but not the numbers that Virat Kohli has,” he added.

Virat broke free from the shackles of poor form with a scintillating century against Pakistan. Kohli’s century against Pakistan was his 82nd overall and 51st in ODIs. Against Pakistan, it was his fourth hundred in the 50-over format. His 100-run knock came off 111 deliveries, studded with seven fours and striking at 90.09. He reached the triple-figure mark in an emphatic manner, striking a boundary off the last delivery to seal the win for India.

Pakistan’s 242-run target was chased down by India within 43 overs. With this win, India maintained their winning streak against Pakistan, having last lost to them in the 2017 Champions Trophy final.
