Richa Ghosh credited her pre-game preparations via match simulations for her knock that helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru complete their highest run-chase in WPL. Defending champions RCB started their WPL 2025 on a victorious note by defeating Gujarat Giants by 6 wickets in an emphatic fashion. Ghosh and Kanika Ahuja were instrumental in the historic run-chase as they remained unbeaten to get the team across the line.
How Richa Ghosh prepared for RCB’s highest run-chase
Speaking at the post-match presentation, Richa revealed that her pre-game preparations with coach Luke Williams helped her in the run-chase. The RCB star said that they had a lot of match situations during practice matches.
“The preparation we did with sir [head coach Luke Williams] really helped us. We had a lot of match situation during practice matches. We kept targets that if the situation is so and so then what should we be doing. That helped me a lot,” Ghosh said.

Along with Ghosh, Kanika Ahuja played a vital role in the run-chase. Her 30-run knock off 13 deliveries, studded with four boundaries, set the stage for Richa Ghosh to provide the perfect stage for finishing the run-chase.
“The plan was to take some time, and see how the pitch is reacting. I wanted to take it deep, and I focused on my game. We [Ahuja and I] thought we could get to the total, and that we would play a positive game,” Ghosh added.
In 6.1 overs, Ghosh and Ahuja scored a whopping 93 runs. They chased down 202 runs in just 18.3 overs. Unlikely for GG Women, this was the fourth time this was happening to them. Four of the highest successful run chases in WPL history have come against them.
