Jasprit Bumrah will next be in action in IPL 2025 after he was ruled out of ICC Champions Trophy. The veteran pacer suffered a back injury towards the end of Border-Gavaskar Trophy and was doubtful for the marquee event. On Tuesday, the BCCI confirmed that he will miss the tournament. This means Bumrah will now directly play in IPL 2025, a good news for Mumbai Indians.

A report stated that while Bumrah’s scans seemed okay, the selectors didn’t wanted to take a risk by making him play in Champions Trophy. While it is still unclear as to when he can start bowling, it is most likely that he will be fit in time for IPL 2025. The next edition of the cash-rich league will commence from March 21 onwards, giving ample time for Bumrah to bounce back.

Bumrah will play a crucial role for Mumbai Indians as Hardik Pandya and co. eye to bounce back after a disastrous IPL 2024. The veteran pacer has 165 wickets from 133 IPL matches. He will spearhead the bowling unit for MI which comprises of Deepak Chahar, Trent Boult among others.
Bumrah was the most overworked bowler for India in 2024, having bowled over 150 overs in the IND vs AUS Test series. He played a crucial role in helping India lift the T20 World Cup following which he turned his attention to Tests. While an injury was inevitable, he seems on track to return to action in IPL 2025.
