India cricket team skipper Rohit Sharma needs just 22 runs to overtake Rahul Dravid on the list of leading ODI run-getters. The out-of-form batter, who currently has 10868 runs to his name in the 50-over format, has been in poor form in the recent past. While he stands a good chance to replace Dravid in the top-ten list of leading run-scorers in ODIs in the IND vs ENG 2nd ODI, it won’t be enough.
Rohit going past Dravid is okay but he needs to do more
Rohit has just 166 runs from his last 10 innings across formats, a worrying sign for India ahead of ICC Champions Trophy. His poor form with the bat spilt over to limited-overs format as well, managing to score just 2 runs in the 1st ODI in Nagpur. Now, he needs just 22 runs to breach into the the top-ten run-getters in ODIs. But that won’t be enough. The Indian captain needs to rediscover his form before the marquee event. Without Sharma firing at the top of the order, the pressure automatically shifts to the middle-order.

| Rahul Dravid | 344 | 10889 | 39.16 | 71.23 |
| Rohit Sharma | 266 | 10868 | 48.95 | 92.39 |

No doubt Rohit is ODI legend but what about form?
There is no doubt that Rohit is indeed one of the greatest ODI batters for India. His track record in the format is very impressive and if we speak specifically about the last 5 years, he has excelled in whatever limited opportunities he has gotten in terms of number of ODIs played. But the issue that will bother India the most is his form in general in the recent past and what toll it could take on the team in Champions Trophy.
