Record breaker Virat Kohli on verge of breaking major Sachin Tendulkar's milestone

Virat Kohli is currently the third highest run getter in ODIs with 13906 runs to his name

Ace star batter Virat Kohli is now on the cusp of breaking a major record. The India Cricket Team star is very close to breaking a mega record that is set by Sachin Tendulkar. The former India legend became the fastest batter to reach 14000 ODI runs. And now Kohli needs just 94 runs in 66 innings to become the very first player in the world to achieve this record.

Sachin Tendulkar achieved the feat in his 350th ODI innings against Pakistan in Peshawar. Though the Master Blaster achieved the rare feat, India however went on to lose the game. In the meantime, Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara became the second batter in history to achieve this feat in his 378th innings at Sydney against Australia.

Both the previous two batters had achieved this feat on away soil. Virat Kohli, the Indian great can achieve this feat on home soil as India takes on England for a 3-match ODI series. Should Kohli fail to achieve it, he can do so in the ICC Champions Trophy.

Currently, Kohli is the third-highest run-getter in the 50-over format. Sachin tops the charts with 18426 runs while Kumar Sangakkara has registered 14234 runs in his career. Kohli has been in the limelight, after failing to score big runs in the India vs New Zealand and Border Gavaskar Trophy.

India now takes on the Three Lions for a three-match ODI series starting on 6th February. Kohli will be ready to achieve this mega record when the Men in Blue take on their opponents at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur
