One of the veteran bowlers of Ranji Trophy, Jalaj Saxena, creates a new record in the top-tier Indian first-class cricket tournament. The bowler, who comes from Madhya Pradesh and plays for Kerala, has set a new record in the Ranji Trophy by taking a five-wicket haul against 19 different teams.
Achievement against Bihar in Ranji Trophy
This achievement came when he completed his five wickets against Bihar on Friday. In a recent match in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala scored 351 runs. Saxena then took five wickets for just 19 runs in seven overs against Bihar. This was his 31st five-wicket haul in the Ranji Trophy, which is the most among current players.
This was Saxena’s first five-wicket haul against Bihar, making them the 19th team he has achieved this against. By doing so, he broke the record of former Indian bowler Pankaj Singh, who had five-wicket hauls against 18 different teams in the Ranji Trophy.

Jalaj Saxena has more than 400 Ranji wickets
Saxena now has 416 wickets in the Ranji Trophy, placing him among the top ten highest wicket-takers in the tournament’s history. Earlier in the season, Saxena reached a milestone of 6000 runs and 400 wickets in the Ranji Trophy. He is the only Indian all-rounder without international caps to achieve this feat. Saxena started his First-Class career with Madhya Pradesh in 2005 and later joined Kerala in the 2016-17 season, becoming one of their top bowlers.
