It was not the return that Virat Kohli or even his fans were expecting. The star Indian batter was dismissed for just 6 runs in the Delhi vs Railways Ranji Trophy match. Kohli managed to slam a boundary before being clean-bowled by Himanshu Sangwan. There was huge anticipation from the fans as Kohli marked his domestic cricket return after 12 long years.
It was definitely not the return that Kohli would have wanted on his domestic cricket return. The entire stadium was sent into a spree of silence as the off-stump was sent flying. Kohli managed only a single boundary, a straight drive accompanied by 2 singles.
Poor form for Virat Kohli continues
Virat Kohli has been plagued with poor form in recent times. He failed to score big runs in the home Test series against New Zealand. In Australia, during the Border Gavaskar Trophy, he managed a single unbeaten century in Perth. But overall in the entire series, he managed 191 runs from 11 innings.
On his return to the Ranji Trophy, the pain and misery continued. His stay on the crease lasted only 15 deliveries, in which he managed 2 singles and a boundary. On the 15th ball, he was left baffled as he placed to leave the shot, only for the ball to knock the off stump and send it flying.

Fans who had waited outside the stadium since 5 AM in the morning today were extremely angry. They immediately decided to leave the stadium after Kohli’s dismissal.
Now as things stand, Kohli needs to find his groove back at the earliest. He will be prepping for the ICC Champions Trophy by playing a 3-match ODI series against England. After that the focus will shift for the ICC event.
