Jasprit Bumrah is currently on a five-week break as he is recovering from the swelling he developed on his back following a gruelling IND vs AUS Test series. While he has been named in India’s Champions Trophy squad, there has been no official update on the status of his recovery yet. Now, a report claims that Bumrah could link up with the side for IND vs ENG 3rd ODI in Ahmedabad, provided his scan reports are positive. Bumrah is reportedly set to undergo scans on February 2
What is Bumrah’s recovery status?
As per Cricbogger, a BCCI source has reportedly claimed that Bumrah has been resting and has not been doing any gym or training. The report claims that the pacer is expected to join the Indian side for IND vs ENG 3rd ODI in Ahmedabad right after the scan reports come out. However, the source stated that Bumrah will not take part in the 3rd ODI but is expected to stay with the team.
“Right after the scan report comes out, which is likely to be positive, Bumrah will join the team for the last ODI in Ahmedabad,” the source said.

It is pertinent to point out that Harshit Rana has been named in India’s squad for IND vs ENG ODIs in place of Bumrah. The ODI series, which will get underway from February 6, will be the final stop and warm-up stage for the Men in Blue before the ICC Champions Trophy.
While reports had earlier claimed that Bumrah’s fitness will be tested in the 3rd ODI in Ahmedabad, the recent report suggests so otherwise. All eyes will be on the NCA and the BCCI medical team who are currently monitoring the pacer’s recovery.
Reports had also earlier claimed that Bumrah was advised bed rest. However, the pacer took to social media platform X to call out the “fake news”. Thereafter, there has been no official update on the status of his recovery from either the board or the pacer.
