Having gone almost a decade without appearing in the Ranji Trophy and performance being an issue of late, all eyes were on the opener.
Fan invades pitch to meet Rohit Sharma
Rohit Sharma couldn’t do much with the willow, scoring just 31 runs in the match (3 and 28). But his craze remained high. On the first day of the match, fans left after he was dismissed cheaply, but they returned the following days. Today (January 25), one crazed fan even invaded the pitch to get a glimpse of him up close at the MCA Cricket Ground.
Security didn’t arrive as quickly as one would have hoped, but they took the fan away swiftly. The result of the match wasn’t far away, though. A few minutes later, Jammu and Kashmir beat Mumbai by 5 wickets. A historic victory for the underdogs, and to do that with not just Rohit Sharma but Yashasvi Jaiswal also playing for the 42-time champions surely must feel sweet.
