Jasprit Bumrah’s back injury might just lead to further trouble for Team India. After leaving the IND vs AUS fifth Test midway, he might not be able to make the cut for the IND vs ENG limited-overs series. But then, as is the norm, the NCA or the BCCI hasn’t provided a clear update on the pacer’s injury, and the extent of it.
Jasprit Bumrah for Champions Trophy?
Meanwhile, as per a report in RevSportz, has hinted the same about Jasprit Bumrah. It is learnt that the pacer is still in Australia, and will undergo further scans, once he is back in India. But then, the report further says, that he could just be fine in time for the Champions Trophy starting on Feb 19, in Dubai. India is slated to play their first match vs Bangladesh on Feb 20.
In fact, if Bumrah does miss the first few matches, he could be available for the knockout stages. Anyways, whatever the case is, his name is expected to be in the squad for sure, that is to be announced by the selectors on Jan 12. On the other hand, the NCA will also keep a close look on yet-to-recover Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav, who both had obviously missed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Could Also Make Cut
The report further says, that Yashasvi Jaiswal could make the cut as the third opener, with Rohit Sharma as the skipper and first opener, followed by Shubman Gill. Shreyas Iyer will make a comeback too, at will be slotted in the middle-order, while the wicket-keeper spot would be decided between KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant.

As for spinners, apart from the usual suspects, Washington Sundar is also likely to be a part of the squad. But then there is no surety that Varun Chakravarthy will be selected for the ODI tournament. As usual, Hardik Pandya will be a must in the team. Lastly, Mohammed Siraj is expected to be rested for the T20I series vs England, but will make it to the ODIs. Similar is the case with Arshdeep Singh.
