Ayush Mhatre’s red-hot form continues as the youngster has now set a new record in domestic cricket. At 17 years and 168 days, the Mumbai batter has become the youngest to score a knock of 150+ runs in List A cricket. With his 181-run whirlwind knock in the Vijay Hazare Trophy game against Nagaland, Mhatre went past Yashasvi Jaiswal to become the new record holder for the youngest to score 150+ runs in List A cricket.
Ayush Mhatre breaks Yashasvi Jaiswal’s record
Previously, Jaiswal had held the record after achieving the feat when he was 17 years and 291 days in a game against Jharkhand in 2019. Mhatre’s 181-run knock off 117 deliveries was studded with 15 fours and 11 sixes. Mhatre has had a great run ever since he made his first-class debut for Mumbai in the Irani Cup tie against Rest of India (ROI) in October 2024. He made his List A debut in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy in Mumbai’s match against Karnataka in December 2024.

Despite being consistent in his performance and being a part of India’s U19 World Cup squad, Mhatre was not picked by any team in IPL 2025 auction. With his fiery knocks over the last two months, the Mumbai batter has served a reminder to all the franchises as to what they have missed out on.
Earlier in November ahead of the mega auction, Ayush had impressed CSK scouts and their former captain, MS Dhoni. This helped the 17-year-old earn a trial at the CSK High Performance Centre. CSK called Ayush to report for selection trials during this short break. However, the team did not show any interest in the star at the auction table.
