Virat Kohli‘s knack of edging balls past the off stump is nothing new. And this has helped in his oppositions taking advantage of the same. Mohammed Kaif has gone on to point out the very same thing. He claimed that bowlers who even play 2-3 Test matches in an year knows what to do to dismiss Virat Kohli.
Heading into the Border Gavaskar Trophy, Virat Kohli has been under immense pressure. But he roared back to form with an unbeaten century in Perth Test, only to falter on both innings in the Adelaide Test. Coming to his dismissals, Kaif was relentless in claiming that it is now longer a surprise that Kohli will go and play a nick shot to outside the off stump deliveries.
Mohammed Kaif explains Kohli’s disissals
Mohammed Kaif also went on to explain the technicalities of the same. He said, previously it was believed that Kohli was playing such shots owing to his batting position. But now Kaif revealed that is due to his forward press. Since Kohli commits his front foot too early, that is the outcome.
“A bowler like Boland who plays only two-three Test matches in a year… He comes, he knows exactly where to bowl to Virat Kohli. Just pith it outside the off stump, Kohli will fiddle with it. He will nick it and get out caught behind. This is an open secret,” Mohammed Kaif said.

Kaif also pointed out that if the opponent is well prepared to dismiss Kohli, then why doesn’t the Indian team go ahead an exploit Travis Head’s weakness.
“If Boland knows how to trap Kohli then why can’t we do the some for Travis Head? If his weakness is outside the off-stump, why don’t we consistently bowl there? Every batsman has weaknesses. Everyone knows Virat Kohli’s weakness. You bowl it outside the off-stump and he will nick it. You’ll need to adopt the same strategy against Travis Head as well. You need to move ahead with proper planning. You need to attack him from the first ball; you need to make a fixed plan to exploit his weakness, and then you can get him out,” Kaif concluded.
