Kush Maini closer to India's F1 dream? Becomes 1st Indian to win Constructors title with Invicta

Maini finished 13th in the regular season as his teammate Gabriel Bortoleto won the championship.

Indian racing driver Kush Maini has achieved a monumental milestone in his career, becoming the first Indian to win a FIA Constructors’ World Championship. Maini, a 24-year-old Formula Two (F2) driver, secured the championship title with Invicta Racing at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Struggling 2024 but Maini makes it count

Despite an inconsistent season, Maini played a pivotal role in Invicta Racing’s success, securing five podiums, including a thrilling race win in Hungary. His impressive pole position in Jeddah set the tone for the team’s dominant campaign, culminating in a 34.5-point victory over Campos Racing, Maini’s former team.

Maini’s season was marked by ups and downs, but he remained resilient. In the final race, he qualified sixth and was impressive with his speed, gaining six positions in the sprint and three in the feature race. However, mechanical issues and a stalled pit stop hampered his chances of a strong finish.

Reflecting on the season, Maini expressed gratitude towards Invicta Racing and optimism for the future: “Not the year I wanted it to be given how we started, but still a lot of positives to take away, including a Constructors’ Championship. Thank you to everyone at Invicta for a good run and wish them all the luck for the future. Looking forward to what’s next for me and raring to go for next year.”
