“Sir’s vision was to teach us not just how to play cricket but also how to respect the game and everything associated with it. One of his most important lessons was about respecting your cricket kit. I tell many players, even today, never throw your bat in frustration. Remember, you are sitting in the dressing room because of that bat, so never do that,” Tendulkar said at the event, addressing the youngsters.
The cricket maestro spoke passionately about a lesson that has remained etched in his memory since childhood: never to throw a bat in frustration. For Tendulkar, it was a metaphor for approaching life’s challenges with dignity. He emphasized that a player’s cricket kit is not merely a collection of sporting tools but a symbol of their journey, their struggles, and their dreams. “Many players come in, throw their bats, or mishandle their kit out of frustration. But you must understand that we are today is because of cricket. Always respect your kit. It has its place, and it should be treated with care and gratitude,” he added.
