5 worst picks in IPL Auction history

  • Jaydev Unadkat: After a great season with Rising Pune Supergiant in 2017, Rajasthan Royals decided to pick Unadkat for INR 11.5 crore. However, in the 2018 edition, the left-arm pacer managed to take just 11 wickets in 15 matches. These scalps came at an abysmal average of 44.18 while giving away 9.55 runs per over.
  • Yuvraj Singh: The all-rounder was on the wane by the time he was picked up by the Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) for a whopping INR 16 crore in the 2015 edition. However, his returns weren’t what DD expected. The Southpaw managed to score just 248 at a meager average of 19.07 while striking at just 118.09.
  • Jhye Richardson: Aussie quick’s first and last IPL season saw him get INR 14 crore from the Mumbai Indians in 2021. The right-arm pacer got just 3 wickets in 3 matches. He proved to be neither economical nor striking on a consistent basis and wasn’t considered by MI management after three poor outings.
  • Manish Pandey: Sunrisers Hyderabad made the mistake of picking Manish based on his form in 2017. After paying INR 11 crore to the batter, all SRH got was 284 runs at an average of 25.81 and a strike of 115.44.
  • Glenn Maxwell: The all-rounder has had highs and lows in the IPL. However, Punjab Kings’ INR 10.75 crore proved to be too much for his poor show. Maxwell made just 108 runs at an average of 15.42 and a strike rate of just over 100. His bowling didn’t redeem him either, as he managed to pick up just 3 wickets in 13 matches.
