Champions Trophy: KL Rahul misses India team bus after delayed exit from Dubai airport

Team India play their first match of ICC Champions Trophy on 20th February against Bangladesh

After the humiliating 3-1 loss in the Border Gavaskar Trophy, the BCCI issued a mandate where the players were required to travel together in the same team bus. However, an exception to this rule was spotted the previous day. The India Cricket Team bus left the Dubai airport without ace batter KL Rahul after a 20-minute delay.

As per reports, KL Rahul traveled alone in a car and not with the team bus from the Dubai airport to the team hotel. The Men in Blue recently traveled to Dubai to take part in the ICC Champions Trophy. While the tournament is hosted in Pakistan, India will play all their matches in Dubai which acts as a neutral venue.

KL Rahul travels alone & not in team bus

Team India traveled to Dubai on 15th February as now the attention shifts to the ICC Champions Trophy. At the airport, a huge crowd was gathered to welcome and cheer for Rohit Sharma and Co. The Indian players were met with a rousing reception as they departed the airport to gather in the India team bus.

But the bus left after waiting for 20 minutes. The delay – the bus was waiting for KL Rahul to depart from the airport. But when KL didn’t exit the stadium it went ahead to leave the rest of the players at the team hotel. Meanwhile, it was spotted that KL Rahul left the airport after a delay of 20 minutes.

As per the fresh mandates issued by the BCCI, all the Indian players are set to travel together from airports to hotels to team practices and not travel separately. However, players can travel alone only if they seek permission from the head coach, i.e. Gautam Gambhir under certain situations.

Coming to KL Rahul, he is primed to take the keeper’s spot ahead of Rishabh Pant. The veteran batter has been the first choice for Rohit Sharma in the ODI format. In the recent IND vs ENG ODI series, KL Rahul got the nod ahead of Pant in all three games and will be India’s go-to player behind the stumps in the ICC event.
