UFC 285: Jon Jones vs Ciryl Gane, Valentina Shevchenko vs Alexa Grasso significant stats

Jon Jones

Fans are undoubtedly excited about the event due to the return of Jon “Bones,” the greatest of all time. In terms of numbers, he is as complete a mixed martial artist as any that has ever been on the roster with a stellar record of 26-1.

Jones will, however, be competing at heavyweight for the first time, where his size advantage against opponents who weigh 205 pounds will be reduced. However, he still has a tremendous reach, though, at 84 inches.

Notably, some highlights of his career are Jones has 15 title fights, and he holds the record for the most title fight wins in UFC history with 14 (1st all-time). In his career, he fought with 57.9% significant strike accuracy (3rd all-time among LHW), and 44.2% takedown accuracy (4th among LHW). Indeed, fighting against him is not a joke and requires serious skill.

Ciryl Gane

Similar to Jones, Ciryl Gane has been a difficult barrier for his opponent since he shows no mercy to them. On his feet, Gane has lightning-fast agility. His lateral mobility mirrors that of a fighter competing in a considerably smaller weight division, and the speed at which he unleashes his punches frequently baffles squarer opponents.

When it comes to the figures, he is 11-1, and the only battle he lost was against Francis Ngannou, but even in that match, he gave Ngannou a terrible time and effectively turned him into a wrestler.

Gane is a fighter who frequently strikes and moves from a distance by using his speed and mobility. He also competed with significant strike accuracy of 57.9%, ranking fifth all-time among HW, significant strike accuracy of 62.8%, ranking tied third all-time among HW, and takedown defence of 55%.

Co-main Event: Valentina Shevchenko vs Alexa Grasso

Valentina Shevchenko

After winning the title in December 2018, Shevchenko has increasingly threatened everyone in the flyweight class due to her skills. She has perfect combat skills throughout the way. When she chooses to remain seated and counterattack, her hitting is very clean. Whenever her opponents push her and attack, she likes to retaliate with a swift combination that ends with a kick or a spinning back kick.

In terms of statistics, the Kyrgyzstani fighter is one of the greatest women on the roster right now with a phenomenal record of 23-3. She had the highest takedown accuracy of 70.5% and the highest major strike accuracy of 56.4% among WFLW fighters. She also absorbed 1.49 strikes per minute (1st all-time among WFLW).

Alexa Grasso

She is ranked sixth, and the most impressive aspect of Grasso’s game is her dynamic boxing technique, both while pushing forward and when defending. She does a superb job of remaining technically a step ahead while throwing many blows.

One of her strongest moves is a jab to a lead hook, and she counters with an overhand right with outstanding timing. She has a strong submission game on the ground and has progressively improved her defensive wrestling.

She has a stellar 15-3 record, winning 4 matches via Knockout and one by submission. She hit the target 5.14 times per minute, with a 44% strike accuracy and a 64% takedown defence. Generally speaking, based on the statistics, Shevchenko appears to be miles ahead of her, but this is a game where many upsets have occurred, so if she wins, it will be the biggest shock and a high point in her career.
