The 19th edition of the Indian Premier League is all set to begin on March 28. The defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on the opening day at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The final will be on May 31. IPL 2026 has seen a squad overhaul from Kolkata Knight Riders after the three-time champions released many of their players. The IPL 2026 trade window also produced some stunning transfers. Sanju Samson made a switch from Rajasthan Royals to CSK, while Ravindra Jadeja went the opposite way.

IPL 2026 Schedule Overview

The BCCI has announced Phase 1 of IPL 2026 schedule of 16 days. Only 20 matches will be part of Phase 1. Once the assembly election dates are announced, BCCI will release the full schedule of the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League. IPL 2026 will kick off on March 28, 2026, with the league wrapping up by May 31, 2026. Matches will be played in two slots: 3:30 PM IST and 7:30 PM IST.

The IPL 2026 teams list remains consistent with the 2025 season, featuring 10 franchises. With retentions announced on November 15, 2025, teams have retained 173 players (including 49 overseas), leaving 77 slots for the mini-auction. A combined purse of ₹237.55 crore will fuel intense bidding.
